My name is Jamel Markee. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Animation, minoring in Computer Science, from Loyola Marymount University in 2005. Graphic design, web development, animation and some programming skills are but a sample of my repertoire of abilities. I have more than three years of professional experience in web design, graphic design for print, and animation for film and video. In that time, I have contributed to collaborative projects in coordination with numerous mainstream media acts. My skills include Flash animation, ActionScript, Photoshop, XHTML/CSS, 3D modeling, animation, life drawing, web design, layout, storyboarding, video editing, and more.

2007

Universal Music. Santa Monica, CA
Jr. Web Production Designer. Photoshop, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, RSS, database maintenance. Cleaned up and fixed ASP, CSS, SDK media tags, include files, and graphics, as well as database maintenance for Universal Music artists’ websites. Built new sites from Photoshop comps. Artists’ sites included Enrique Iglesias; Bone Thugs N’ Harmony; The Game; Eminem; Rich Boy; Lloyd Banks; Young Buck; The Midway State; A Fire Inside; the All-American Rejects; 50 Cent; Sheryl Crow; Jimmy Eat World; …And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead; and the Interscope Records website. Contract.

Independent Film "Captain Hero." Los Angeles, CA
Contributed to a short, independent film, written and directed by Japanese actor/comedian Mighty Muscle (Nakayama Kinnikun). Created short animated sequence, and translated original Japanese screenplay into English. Also designed and animated both the opening and closing credits. Freelance.

Gunnell Aviation. Santa Monica, CA
Art Director. Photoshop, Illustrator, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Flash, Actionscript. Responsible for setting the visual and navigational feel of the company’s many web sites, including gunnelltour.com and musclecomedy.com. Work on both internally directed promotional projects for Gunnell air tours aimed at Japanese clientele, and promotional sites for web design clients. Many projects completed in both English and Japanese.

2006-2007: VOI Telecommunications. Glendale, CA Graphic Designer; Web Designer. Photoshop, Illustrator, HTML, CSS, Flash, Actionscript. Responsible for creating graphical and navigational concepts for VOI and its child company, V2B Global, including materials used on the VOI website (voitelecom.com), Yahoo! online ad campaigns, video loops that were played on a screen in the office’s main lobby, and print ads run in publications such as H Magazine and the Korea Times. Created print materials in both English and Korean. Provided some of the on-screen monitor graphics used at the Black Eyed Peas’ December 7, 2006 concert at Staples Center in Los Angeles. Designed the V2B Global logo and the Black Eyed Peas VIP Membership Card.

2005-2006: Lotus Interworks, Inc. Los Angeles, CA Graphic Designer; Primary Web Designer. Photoshop, Illustrator, HTML, CSS, Flash. Projects including HTML/CSS and Flash web sites; Directors’ DVD covers for music video production unit; graphics for cell phone applications and games; and pre-sale design for cell phone application proposals. Processing and editing music videos from raw source files, and posting them on the Lotus Filmworks web site.

2005: International News Media, LLC. Irvine, CA – Web Design / Marketing Company Web Designer. Design and building of HTML/CSS web sites for company clients. MySQL database maintenance. Submission of web pages and associated RSS feeds to search engines.

2004-2005: Loyola Marymount University Classroom Management Office. Los Angeles, CA Desk assistant position in university library computer lab. Answered questions and assisted students; repaired computers and printers when necessary; maintained of lab room.

2003-2004: Broccoli Books International – Manga Publishing Company Intern; promoted to Junior Web Developer. Photoshop image editing, taking product photos for web site, HTML/CSS, graphic design for web site icons, local deliveries.
